WHAT DREW YOU TO SARASOTA? WHAT KEEPS YOU HERE?
“Actually when I lived in Tampa I visited Sarasota. I often played tennis at The Colony and the Sarasota Bath and Raquet Club. I always looked forward to coming to Sarasota and loved it…I developed a secret desire to move here someday. When I knew I was able to leave my tennis career, I felt the real estate opportunites in Sarasota were much more exciting and better with resort properties in the Sarasota area.”
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT LIVING IN SARASOTA?
“I thoroughly enjoy the water and the beaches. But what stands out the most is the fact that Sarasota is still a small town with all of the big town advantages.”
DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVORITE AREAS AROUND TOWN?
“ My attraction to Sarasota, and this holds true for a lot of people, is the diversity in architecture. There are some fabulous contemporary properties, older homes that are considered “historic Sarasota” and even some newer properties. There isn’t just one style. It’s hard for people to say, I just want contemporary or I want mediteranean. What I find is the customer in Sarasota generally recognizes a well done product and they aren’t tied into one style. It can be contemporary, historic or new, but a well done product is appreciated.”
WHAT TYPE OF RECREATION IS OFFERED IN SARASOTA?
“Number one, boating, beaches, golf, the arts, great shopping. There are also great little secrets like an early morning walk through Selby Gardens or a sunrise walk across the Ringling bridge.”
TELL US ABOUT CULTURAL ACTIVITIES THAT SARASOTA OFFERS.
The cultural activities offered in Sarasota are fabulous. From the small equity acting theatres, our own ballet, symphony, to the off Broadway shows at the Van Wezel, there is always a lot to choose from.”
HOW HAS SARASOTA CHANGED IN THE LAST 25 YEARS?
I think the population has grown adding to the opportunity. Allowing more enjoyment for the things we talked about. The theatre has gotten better, the bridges are better for boating and transportation, the downtown skyline is much more exciting, better restaurants and shopping.”
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR SARASOTA?
More of the same. Sarasota will remain what it began, a small town with what a big city has to offer. I think that is why people continue to come here.”
